The Week in Pictures

Our family now includes this very relaxed dog. She is still quite afraid and I think she could use a little doggie Prozac.
I bought gas for $2.09 -- WOO HOO!!

JD and I went to our last home football game. He doesn't understand the game - well, not the game on the field anyway. He DOES understand the way to get the prizes that the cheerleaders throw into the stands is to go stand at the fence when they start throwing and look EXCEPTIONALLY cute. Well, that and be the child of a teacher whose class you must pass. I think we have a bathtub full of little red footballs.

JD is relaxing at the game.

Pat and I dressed up for Halloween. I have always wanted to be a rodeo clown and Pat is a Bee.
JD did some trick or treating as Batman. All in all it was a great week.

"I was an only boy . . .

. . . and he was an only dog." So goes my favorite line from the movie My Dog Skip. If you haven't seen it you should. It is a cute story of a boy and his dog. Here are some cute pictures of our boy and his new dog.

Candy Carnival

JD and I celebrated Halloween at the "candy carnival" at school. Since the carnival is co-sponsored by the church that uses our theater on Sundays it is NOT a "Halloween carnival." WHATEVER!!! It was 90 degrees this afternoon and JD refused to wear a costume. It really was kind of hot for the costumes he has. That didn't stop me from dressing up. It's pretty sad when you are more dressed up than your child.

JD got a couple of temporary tatoos.

He waited in line to play this little t-ball type game. I think it was his favorite thing.

We played a little golf.

We pulled suckers from a tree.

AND -- we threw bean bags through a variety of Halloween, oops, I mean festive candy themed backdrops. He has learned that to win at bean bag toss you have to walk right up to it an throw it through. When you're three years old I guess that isn't considered cheating. Nobody stopped him from doing it anyway.

OH NO --- What have we gotten ourselves into??

Wednesday was George's Birthday and so he took the day off. When I got home that evening he told me he had been to the car wash and there were the paw match adopt a dog people there with two cute border collie mix puppies. He said he felt sad for them and was about to bring them home. My response to TWO dogs was NO WAY JORGE!!!!! I have adopted two puppies once before - it is nothing but trouble. HERE is where the story gets strange. JD and I were at the shoe store on Thursday. Right next door is Petsmart and WHO happens to be there but the same two border collie puppies from the car wash the day before. WIERD --- We always look at the puppies, but this was unusual --- that they were there --- and THEN that I would connect them to the car wash from the day before. George was meeting us later for tacos but hadn't initially gone with us to buy shoes.
Here is JD looking at the puppy at the store. I'm sure you all know where this story is headed. What could we do??? It was fate!!! Meet Lu Lu. She is the newest member of our family. JD loves her already.

Hip Hop Football

Our dress up theme for this week's football game was "hip hop." With Pat's help I got this fabulous "hip hop" look for the day.
Before the game we went out for tacos. JD always insists on eating his taco backward. WHATEVER

At the game we got this interesting picture with Bella the Bulldog.

Happy Birthday

Nothing says Happy Birthday like a cookie with black frosting and spooky eyes. Well, JD thought so anyway. He picked out the black cookie and was happy to sing for Dad's birthday today!

Fall in Texas

Our autumn may not be as pretty as other parts of the country but the leaves do fall off the trees here. This spooky pumpkin solider outside the ID office reminded us that Halloween is just around the corner.
When I got to JD's school the kids were having a great time playing in these leaves. Ahhh, fall in Texas. The leaves come off the trees but it was 90 degrees this afternoon and we are still wearing shorts, t-shirts and flip flops.

I'm Gonna Scare Myself

Thanks for the card Uncle Keith and Nina.

Our Weekend

We aren't very exciting this weekend. Here is our weekend in pictures. I'm not sure what is going on with gas prices but we were happy to fill up our tank at $2.81 a gallon. Wal-mart had gas a couple cents cheaper but people were lined up 3 deep to get it and I was just not going to wait in line.
JD enjoyed his hamburger at Steak and Shake.

There is a new exhibit at the Children's Museum. JD enjoyed driving the new commuter train.

He put gas in the bus.

This train table was really big and super fun. That's it in a nutshell.

And Today's Theme was . . .

. . . the beach.
Today we also had many of the homecoming festivities. Here are JD and I waiting for the parade to begin.

We saw the floats and they . . .

. . . threw things at us. JD collected a necklace and a bucket full of candy.

After the pep rally we posed for a picture with the Bulldog.

Mix and Match Day

I know you were all sitting on the edge of your chair waiting to see what today's dress up theme was. Here we are for mix and match day. I am Christmas and Halloween. Pat is UT and A&M. YES, I did in fact stop at Wal-mart on the way home dressed like this.

Decade Day

This is homecoming week and to celebrate every day has a theme. Yesterday was camo day and since I didn't have my camera on me there are no pictures to document the foolishness. TODAY was decade day and we were supposed to dress like a decade. Pat and I decided to dress like the 60s but had very different ideas about what the 60s were all about. I was thinking Jackie O. and -- WELL -- who knows what Pat was thinking. Stay tuned for a brand new theme tomorrow. You'll have to wait to see what it is. I bet all you people with "real" jobs don't have this much fun at work.

Look what I Found at Goodwill!!

NO -- not JD, the costume. I went into the Goodwill across the street from school and found this great costume. I thought it was a dragon but JD says it is a crocodile and who am I to argue with a 3 year old. Whatever it is, it is darn cute and was darn cheep.

Happy Blogging Birthday

This is the one year birthday of JD's blog. I started recording our lives through pictures for the world to see one year ago with this event -- The Parks and Wildlife EXPO.
Scroll back a year and you will find a picture of JD on this very horse. This year he was big enough to sit on it without dad holding him.

Dad helped JD go fishing for trout.

HE CAUGHT ONE!! JD got his first fish. The parks and wildlife guy helped him take it off the hook and then hold it so JD could touch it.

We petted this cute puppy who tried to take a bite out of JD's hat.

Who knew the Army Corp of Engineers had a mascot -- BUT -- here he is and he was happy to pose for a picture.

JD "drove" this ATV.

He checked out the campers. SO SORRY, your allowance doesn't cover a $24,000 camper!!

I can't believe it's been a whole year of blogging. My goodness how time flies when your taking pictures.
