JD's Homework

This project was sent home with JD from school and I thought it was TOO CUTE! He painted the tree at school and then I put the pictures on to represent our family tree. At the top of the trunk is his handprint. Sorry if your picture didn't make it to the tree. A pre-school tree can only hold so many family members.

The First Week of School . . .

. . . it's OVER!!! This is what JD and I have been up to this week. Since Dad has been REALLY busy working extra hard we had "chicken play" (JD's term for Chic-fil-A) for dinner. We got to shake hands with the cow which made the evening extra special.
We got some fun new Scooby Doo pajamas.

JD drove his tractor.

AND, we painted at school. JD's class is making a tree for the wall and these are going to be some of the leaves for it. WOW -- that's a lot of green paint.

Today was the first day of school. My friend Carlen and I ended up wearing almost identical dresses to school this morning. Great minds think alike!

JD's constant theme these days is "I need to go to Walmart and buy trains." Naturally, when I turned on the camera he needed to be prompted a little. To celebrate the first day of school we did in fact stop at Walmart and buy trains.

Saturday Night with Grandpa

Some of the family met for a Saturday night gab session at Grandpa's house. JD had fun because he got to play with his cousin Justin.
The boys played . . .

and played. . .

AND PLAYED!!!

May All Your Days Be . . .

Circus Days!!! We went to the Greatest Show on Earth this evening and had a Super Time. This is the star of this year's show Bello the clown.
JD got to be a Circus Celebrity.
What does a Circus Celebrity do?
Just before intermission a clown presented us with our own Bello plastic hair (notice the clown picture above) and we got to ride in the circus train and wave to the crowd.
Apparently I have a really big head because the clown couldn't get my Bello hair on and decided to just turn it over and put it on upside down. I was so busy taking pictures of JD that I had now idea my plastic hair was upside down until I looked at the pictures later. It looks a little silly upside down --- BUT --- who doesn't look silly with orange plastic hair on their head -- even right side up?

The children behind us had huge suckers so naturally JD HAD to have one too. He just wouldn't leave without a big sucker.

Snack Time

This is what happens at snack time. JD wants a cupcake and then wants to put fire on it. Every day is his birthday!

Let's Do Lunch

My good friends and I were able to meet for lunch today. Debra was in town visiting for the weekend and although Lea and I live withing a few miles of one another we don't actually get to SEE one another very often. It was nice to be able to get together and chat.
As soon as JD got up this morning he wanted to play with trains. He didn't just get them out he insisted that he wanted to "spill" them. When I got home from lunch he was sound asleep on the couch overlooking his train mess. He must have played until he colapsed.

Hi and Bye to Kyle

Kyle was here with us for a few hours to sleep and pick up his things. Bye Kyle, we hope to see you and the girls again soon!!
JD had discovereds the "cars" at the mall. Everytime I asked him if he was ready to go home he said, "NO, I want to drive some more." What is the boy going to be like when he is 16? YIKES!!! Thankfully it will be a few years.

One Last Outing Before School Starts

Here it is -- our last field trip. I have having technical difficulties so my pictures are posted backwards today. JD has been asking to go to the "spooky store" (our local hobby/variety store that ALREADY has the Halloween things out). We went this afternoon but then he was too afraid to go down the "spooky aisle." GO FIGURE!
We had a meal at McDonald's which made us very "HAPPY."

This morning we saw Miss Stacey at the Children's Museum. A very good end of the summer celbration.

Summer Field Trip

We have one more week of summer so we need to fit in a few last field trips. We went to see Miss Stacey this morning at Book People. While we were waiting JD played in the tunnel.
Next, we went to Walmart to have a picture taken. We have missed the last two picture days at school so we needed a summer portrait. If we go to Walmart (or sometimes even if we are just driving by) JD insists that we need to buy trains. Once we get to the train isle it takes him FOREVER to decide. So many choices that little boys have to make.

Swimming Lessons

Gymnastics is over for the summer so we are back at the pool doing swimming lessons. This is JD's first "big boy" swim class where he gets in the water without mommmy. Mommy is both happy and sad about it.
JD swims with Mark. Our swim teacher who has the patience of Job.

He is also part sheep dog. Trying to round up four three year olds and getting them to pay attention is no easy task. As soon as he turns his back on one of the kids that one is wandering off. This has turned into a game for JD. He figured out if he wandered to the other side of the pool Mark would come after him and drag him back. He GIGGLES like this is the most fun in the world.

YEE HAW!!

JD and I spent the morning at the Children's museum. He enjoyed the Austin Kiddie Limits exhibit where you can play a pretend guitar along with some famous Austin musicians. He spent at least 30 minutes dancing and watching himself on TV. At the end of every song he let out a "YEE HAW." I haven't got any idea where he learned that from. We don't just yee haw around the house all the time.

My Big Little Helper

While I was working at the sink yesterday JD pulled a chair over and wanted to help. He wants to help with everything but the problem is his helping isn't really that helpful -- if you know what I mean. I let him help anyway and hope he still likes to help when he is big enough to mow the lawn.
He "helped" stir the pinto beans that I put on to soak. Never mind that pinto beans don't really need stirring -- the insisted that they did.

This may be the end of helping. George got out our old playstation and hooked it up with a Nemo game. The first thing JD said to me this morning was "I want to play games like this" and then he started wiggling his thumbs. YIKES -- GEORGE, what have you done to our boy!!!

Swimming

JD and I have been swimming quite a lot but I don't always get my camera out at the pool. Today we went to this super fun children's pool and so I just HAD to capture the moment. School starts in another week and we will have to say bye bye to all the free time and to the fun in the water. BOO HOO!!!

Bunny Bucket

A night or two ago JD kept insisting that he wanted to play with his bunny bucket. I had no idea what he was refering to. I took him by the hand and told him to show me what he wanted. He just couldn't show me and I just couldn't figure out what he wanted. FINALLY George got it. AH HA -- he wants to play with the Easter eggs. DUH -- the bunny bucket. Sometimes mom is just too slow.
