Farm Day

A traveling petting zoo came to JD's school today. My student teacher made it possible for me to go and participate in the festivities.
Here JD's Butterfy class waits for their turn to go see the animals.
It seems like the bunnies were everyone's favorite. The poor little things got quite a workout from the kids. They'll need some bunny xanax when they get back to the farm

JD and his friend Austin fed the Donkey.

The pigme goats were very little and cute.

JD and Cole with some bunnies - AGAIN!!

JD looked at the pony but still wasn't going to let go of that bunny.

Lu Lu's Biting Me

I hear this cry at least once a day and sometimes more, "Mommy, Lu Lu's biting me." If he doesn't get any response from me he yells again, "Mommy, Lu Lu's biting me hard." My response is always the same, "JD, get your hand out of her mouth." From what I can tell, I'm not so sure that JD is the victim in these situations.

Monsters vs. Aliens

Since Spring Break has ended it is back to the regular work and school grind. We did go see the movie Monsters vs. Aliens this weekend. It was pretty scary, but since JD is a big boy now we were able to go and have a good time.
JD enjoyed his popcorn while we waited for the movie to begin. Ahhh, popcorn, he is a boy after my own heart.

Bacon Boy

If you ask JD what he wants for breakfast nine times out of ten he will say, "bacon." On school days bacon just wasn't happening. It wasn't happening until Granny taught me how to do bacon in the oven. Now I can put it in and go about my morning routine and in 30 minutes --- TA DA --- BACON!! JD LOVES his morning meat. It looks like Lu Lu loves the morning meat too. Here she is waiting for him to drop.

Bye Bye Friends

The Ridings got us these lovely flowers as a thank you. TOTALLY unnecessary but VERY nice anyway. Tulips are my very favorite flowers. We are so sad to see our friends leave this morning. The first thing JD said when he got up was, "where is Marci?" Come again -- our door is always open!!!

It's Friday

. . . and that mean's Spring Break is almost over. We are going to be so sad when the Riding's leave.
We have enjoyed a couple of trips to the swimming pool. It must have been a long cold winter in Kansas because this was one of the girls favorite things.
We went to see Miss Staci this morning. JD and Rachel enjoyed jumping. Notice the air time our friend Lincoln (in the yellow shoes) is getting.

We went to Zilker Park and played on the playground.

Everyone enjoyed a ride on the train.

We unwrapped our tie dye shirts. These two were not happy at all with the way that their's turned out.
The three little ones LOVED their fancy new shirts. They wore them to Rudy's for some BBQ. YUM YUM!!

Tie Dye Day

I decided that making tie dye t-shirts might be a fun project for us to do for spring break. So here we are . . .
. . . first we put rubber bands on our shirts to create designs.
JD used the green and was very careful with his dye. He kept insisting that we shouldn't make "a big sticky mess." I think Miss Debbie (JD's teacher) would be proud. That sounds EXACTLY like something she would say.
On the other hand, Annie wasn't at all concerned with how big and sticky her mess got. She just went to town with her shirts. Before it was over she had some tie dye feet.
Stay tuned for the t-shirt reveal tomorrow. We'll see how it all turns out. Tie dye makes you very hungry so we washed our hands and JD and Annie made us pigs in a blanket for lunch.

Spring Break Day Two

The Ridings have returned and we are so excited.
Annie and JD played "biker."
Since we weren't able to be together for any one's birthday we decided to celebrate every ones birthday all at once. We got a pink barbie cake and an elmo cake. Every one's poop will be very colorful tomorrow after eating all that industrial food coloring.

Day One of Spring Break

JD went to watch Noah play baseball this afternoon. Sadly, all of JD's bulldog t-shirts say football and not baseball. I guess that is something we need to work on.
We went to the rodeo this evening and were forced to park at the entrance by the carnival. I have always been kind of anti carnival but we HAD to walk through it and when JD saw all the rides he talked me in to a few. They seemed kind of fast and high to me (well, fast and high by 3 year old standards). JD LOVED them though. He squealed with delight.
We had some candy cotton while we watched the cowboys rope calves and ride bulls.

JD thought Josh Turner was TOO LOUD!!

The Ridings are Here

Let the fun begin!! The Ridings have arrived. The kids were shy for a few minutes but it didn't take long for them to pick up right where they left of a year and a half ago.
Lu Lu is the new member of our family that the girls had to get acquinted with. I was very proud that all three of them seemed to get along just fine.

Annie seemed to like her new backpack.

The girls left this morning but they'll be back again on Tuesday. JD planted a seed in primary this morning. When we got home he was REALLY anxious to show dad his "dirt cup."

Rodeo Rumble

Today was our THIRD Rodeo Rumble. The first time JD went the smallest t-shirt looked him like a dress on him. TODAY, his shirt actually fit. It helped that he had a couple of layers of sweatshirts on underneath it. It was a COLD morning.
JD was very popular with the rodeo queens.
The blonde in the white hat was especially nice.

Dad and JD lined up for the race with all the 3 and under kiddos.

Run Forest Run

After the race JD rode a pony.

The goats were especially hungry. Since we were there first thing in the morning they hadn't been fed all day.

Dad wanted this sports car. BUT . . .

. . . JD said he'd prefer a tractor.

After all that activity we needed a corn dog for energy.

Mmmm, Fish

Grandpa was working a catering gig just down the road from us so we went to see him.
Frying fish on a trailer was verying interesting to JD. An outdoor kitchen on wheels -- what fun. I hope when he's big enough to really help he still has to be drug out of the kitchen.

JD says, "if I can't help I'll just flop myself down on the ground."

Over the River and Through the Woods . . .

. . . To Grandmother's House We Go.
Since JD has already measured everything worth measuring at our house we had to go visit Grandma this weekend.
JD and Dad relax while they wait for the meat to cook. I was a BAD errand girl on Saturday. George needed a few things from HEB and sent me to the store WITH JD!!! It just so happens that HEB is right next door to McDonald's and this colorful playground.
JD was hungry, I figured the meat had to cook for awhile before they'd be ready for vegetables, AND . . . one thing lead to another. A Happy meal and some play time later and we finally made it back to Grandma's with our veggies. I can't be held responsible for my actions when JD and playgrounds are involved. I know I'm supposed to be the adult, BUT, JD is a bad influence on me.

Kelly's Hardware Store

George had to make a trip to Lowe's last night. JD went along and was so excited to visit a store just like Kelly's (the hardware store on Handy Manny). He found this measuring tape that was just like Stretch and wanted it for his very own. We talked him out of Dusty the saw!
Once we got home JD used it to measure everything. Poor Lu Lu she was his favorite thing to measure.

OH LU LU

Our FOURTH attempt at dog confinement seems to have worked. Lu Lu jumped the poodle gate we had, which was no real surprise. We got the gate that was labeled for large bread dogs. She jumped that one too. Not only is she athletic, she is also smart. We got a wire kennel that she figured out how to OPEN. FINALLY, I think we've found a fence she can't jump. I have a much better attitude about a contained dog. WOO HOO
She has also figured out who is most likely to drop food . . .

. . . OR just give it to her.

In general, dogs aren't allowed on the bed - - unless they get a chance to sleep by JD.
