Mijo

George called Grandpa to check in and we ended up with an invitation to come eat. YUM!!! As soon as JD heard we were going to Grandpa's he started packing up his backpack with toys. He carried it around on his back for a good hour before it was time to go. JD says, "Grandpa calls me Mijo." I think JD is a little confused by this spanish term of endearment.

Sunday Singing

JD sang as part of a special children's program at the church where he goes to school. Apparently Blogger only wants you to put in one video at a time -- SO, here is his entire performance but loaded into three entries.

Alive

It's a good thing there are girls in JD's class. They seem to be the best singers.

This Little Light

JD continues to let his light shine.

Auto Show

We have been to the Auto show and driven LOTS of cars.
This little red Corvette was fun.

Or maybe JD is a pick-up man.

Here was the best part of the Auto Show. JD got to meet his hero - SPIDERMAN.

This was the "real" spiderman. He actually works for Marvel and plays Spiderman for a living.

Easter Egg Hunt x 2

We got up early Saturday morning and went off in search of some Easter fun. Our first stop was Circle C for their neighborhood egg hunt. NO, we don't live in Circle C - BUT - that didn't stop us from crashing their party.
This was what we found there. It looked like every child within a 10 mile radius was lined up to search for eggs.
Fortunately, the eggs were everywhere. In fact, it looked like it had rained plastic eggs.
We got our share of goodies and then moved on to the next party.
We found these eggs on the Capital lawn.

It was a regular party there with lots of space to run and play.

JD got his face painted like a bunny. This is what happened when I said, "say cheese." YIKES!!

It was a Good Friday

Since there was no school today (or in JD's words, "There's no my school today.") JD and I had a GREAT Friday.
We went to the Dinasour museum. JD liked the Dinasour bones but thought the museum in general was a little to spooky for him. We spent more time reading bones books in the gift shop than actually looking at the exhibits in the museum.
At the LBJ Library we saw a laser light show and then went for a run on the lawn.
Look who we ran into in HEB. It must have been our lucky day.

Eeyore is not our Swim Teacher

It is spring and so we are swimming again. Our teacher's name is Bjorn. In JD's mind that translated into Eeyore. It has taken a little bit of work to get him to hear the difference. Just like our teachers last fall, Bjorn has the patience of a saint! It must be part of the YMCA training.
JD worked on his backstroke

The blue floaties help him stay afloat.

Easter Cookies

JD and I decided it was time to see if our new oven would bake cookies. We made some special Easter treats.
First, we cut out some round cookies
Next, I put frosting on the cookies and JD dipped them in green coconut to look like grass.

Finally, we added candy eggs.

Here is our culinary work of art.

It's Bluebonnet Time!

BUT -- before we get to the bluebonnets you have to look at the picture of my new oven. The old one broke on Thursday. When you live in a house where everything is old you just cross your fingers and hope things will last a little bit longer. Our new oven is so fancy I'm going to have to read the directions before I can cook anything. The days of just turning the dial to 350 are gone for good.

When we arrived at the park this afternoon JD spotted the ice cream truck. I don't normally buy ice cream from the truck but when when JD spotted the spiderman picture on the side of the truck we had to have one.
I tried my best to get Lu Lu to pose with the blue bonnets. This is the best I could do. She just doesn't understand the command, "look at the camera and say cheese."
JD gets it though. We got several cute pictures before he saw a spider and a web and lost control. He SCREAMED that the spider was looking at him and had a scarey web. I never did see this terrible insect. JD assured me it didn't bite him, it just looked at him scarey.
About 10 minutes after we got home from the park he fell asleep in the chair. Ahhh, my plan worked!

You Have a Fever!

George had a little stomache virus earlier in the week. After I checked his temperature JD had to do it too.

Scooter

JD got a scooter and has been learning to ride it. LuLu, JD and I have been walking (or scootering in JD's case) every evening.
