Young Women and the Giant Cupcake

OK - so my title is about two different things -- I thought they sounded funny together.
Here are our Young Women celebrating New Beginnings on Wednesday night.
JD and George have been seeing the infomercial with a giant cupcake pan. Every time they see it they want me to order it. I'm not sure which of my "boys" REALLY wanted a giant cupcake, but when I found the pan at HEB I got one. JD and I made it this evening. It was yummy!

Puzzle Boy

JD had really gotten into puzzles lately. He has been doing them at school with his friends so this weekend we bought a couple. He put them all together on the floor --- SEVERAL times.

Happy MLK Day

JD and I tried to make the most of our day off school.
We took LuLu for a pedicure. She doesn't seem to appreciate it nearly as much as I do. JD helped supervise her while we waited in line.
It was an overcast day but we went to the park anyway. JD drove the car and played fire truck.
He has been begging to go on a picnic. So, we got our picnic blanket and found a dry spot to eat our lunch at the park.
JD and LuLu surveyed the park for dinosaurs.
To celebrate Emily's birthday (Emily is one of my young women) we invited her over to make pizza and brownies. We hope she had as much fun as we did.

Cabelas

JD got lots of presents for Christmas but Grandma's Lincoln Logs are one of his favorites.
While Kyle was here the two of them engineered a few buildings.
BUT -- Dad is the Lincoln Log MASTER. He built this beauty. JD said, "Wow Dad, you built Cabelas." I guess the green roof reminded him of his favorite store.

Another Week . . .

The heat at school has been working this week so the students are also working hard. Here we are Friday working on a project.
I ate Friday at a culinary arts luncheon. The food was as delicious as it looked. It almost made going to work FUN!
There's been a little accident across the street. A car lost control on the slick streets the other night and took out the neighbors carport.
Best of all, on Saturday we went to a birthday party and BOUNCED!!
After an hour of bouncing you really work up an appetite. YUM - Cheetos.

The Week In Review

The week started out with a day of missed school because of the cold. It never warmed up last week. Everywhere there was water there was ice.
We were all Longhorn crazy on Wednesday. Even at JD's school there was excitment for the game. At my school they played Texas Fight over the PA during passing periods. That craze came to a SAD SAD end when the game was lost Wednesday evening.
We went to the movies and ALMOST had the theater to ourselves.
Kyle came to visit and brought presents. THANKS Rachel and Annie! JD Loves his Hungry Hippos game. We hope you like your surprise that Kyle is bringing back.

No School Today

We were all supposed to head back to school today. BUT . . . the heat broke and so school was cancelled. WOO HOO!!
JD and I celebrated by eating pizza . . . AND . . .
. . . playing games. JD takes his motorcycle driving very seriously and so he wasn't pleased when I interrupted his game for . . .
this photo opportunity. Since teachers dine free on Tuesday at this particular eatery we had a fun time at a reasonable price.
Here's another game we play EVERY evening. Lulu thinks whoever is sitting on this couch should throw her ball for her. She pushes it up next to you and WAITS patiently for . . .
. . . SOMEONE to throw it for her. THEN, she runs and gets it and the whole thing starts over again and again and again and again and again . . . (well, you get the idea).

Dinosour Museum

JD and I made a trip to the Dinosaur museum. He was finally brave enough to touch this bone from the leg of a dinosaur.
The Dinosaur bird hanging from the ceiling was a big hit.
Since the Longhorn store was nearby I decided a little indoctrination was in order. The foam hand was almost as big as JD.
We also sent by to see Little Smokey the cannon. HOOK'EM HORNS!

Happy New Year

What did we do for New Year's Day?
It's time to take down the lights. JD was once again a BIG helper.
Watch out dad -- JD is still helping.
We pulled the strings on some "poppers." It took a couple of tries but JD was finally able to do it by himself. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
