What's New!

There are several new things in and around our house.
We have been getting a little rain every day for about a week now. Almost every morning we find toads on the driveway. JD doesn't understand why they hop away from him. He says, "I'm a friend of frogs." Too bad the frogs don't know that.
I found this kit to make a haunted gingerbread house. JD and I made it this morning. He made a spooky face to go along with the spooky house.
George just couldn't handle being without a truck. I'm surprised he made it this long. This red shiny truck is the newest member of our family. JD REALLY REALLY wanted a red truck. Dad wanted brown but apparently so do lots of people because we couldn't find one in all of central Texas.

Homework

Part of JD's "homework" was to look at the web site www.starfall.com. JD started and now he can't stop! He is addicted to the little ABC games. He has informed dad that this is his computer now and so dad will have to get another one.

Saturday Festivities

Saturday is "family day." Here are the family festivities we participated in today. We went to the flea market. We haven't been to this festival of junk in AGES. JD decided flea market toys weren't very fun. He said they all looked old.
We went to Bulldogs and Hotdogs where JD got a bulldog paw print painted on his face. This annual event is your chance to buy almost anything you can think of with a red and black bulldog on it. We came home with our share of paraphernalia.
After all that excitement we were mighty hungry. This meal consisted of some mighty fine burgers.

Another Friday Night

We spent another Friday night at the football game. This was the crowd about 30 minutes before the game started. Before half time it was PACKED and HOT! I guess we aren't the only ones who love those Friday night lights.

Big Boy

Here's my big boy going to school. He's carrying his own lunchbox and backpack. His principal says that's HIS job. (I love this principal!) He is wearing a tie dye t-shirt of his own creation. He made it spotted so it would look like the dog. You can decide if it looks like a spotted dog or just tie dye gone bad.

Morning Assembly

JD's school has morning assembly EVERY MORNING. All 900+ kiddos sit in the gym/cafeteria for the pledge and announcements from the principal. They're quite a crew aren't they?

BBQ Anyone?

Labor day means brisket at our house. George stayed up all night Saturday to cook this delicious meat. Too bad this isn't a scratch and sniff blog - it smells really yummy!

Our New HEB

I think the HEB in our neighborhood must have been the oldest one in town because they didn't bother remodeling it -- they just tore it down. They built the new HEB right behind it. The store has actually been open for awhile but I have been avoiding it because it was taking forever to get the old store flattened and turned into parking. With no real parking the new store was a pain! I was there Saturday morning and took some pictures so you could see all the newness.
As you go in you can buy aguas frescas - just in case you are parched from that long walk in from the brand new parking lot.
These folks were busy making fresh tortillas. If you talk to them they will give some that are nice and hot.
Chicken feet anyone? YUM YUM!
George always laughs that there is never anyone in the dog food aisle. "Ta loco dog food." He was right so I walked down it to break up any cobwebs that might be forming.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

JD is! You've got to love Friday night in Texas. No matter where in the state you are it means High School football.
Notice the big bulldog in the end zone that the players run through. There are also fog machines involved in that entrance. This is the same stadium where my high school played football --- ahh the circle of life.
By half time JD had eaten all his popcorn and turned his container into a hat. We never make it to the end of the game. Our love football only lasts about an hour and a half and then grumpiness sets in.
