Sometime can we _______?

"Sometime can we ____?"  JD says this almost every day and when he fills in the blank I never know what he is going to say.  Earlier in the week it went like this:

JD: "Sometime can we go to ancient Egypt?"
Mom: "Sure, why do you want to go there?"
JD: "I want to see the sphinx.  You know it is half lion and half human."
Later it was:
JD: "Sometime can we go see the Eiffel Tower.  But not the fake one - the real one?"

I'm not sure where the fake Eiffel Tower is --- Las Vegas maybe?  I always say yes but never specify when "sometime" is.

Yesterday when he said, "Sometime can we make a cake."  I specified --- "yes, we can do that TODAY."  Since Halloween is JD's favorite holiday and I got these cake tattoos for 25 cents after Halloween last year we thought that would be a good theme for our cake.

Uncle Keith --- are you listening?  Sometime JD wants you to take him to ancient Egypt.

HOT HOT HOT

It looks like another tropical heat wave.  I took this picture coming home the other night.  You can see that it was still 110 degrees at 8:29 in the evening.
JD spent some time this week learning COOL science stuff at Mad science camp.
Nature Nights at the Wildflower center is one of our favorite things.  This week was all about humming birds.  We learned that their eggs are the size of jelly beans.
AND, we made this decorative bird.

It Was All Drama This Week.

Drama Camp that is.  We haven't done drama camp before so I wasn't sure what to expect.
As it turns out - Drama camp was a BIG HIT!  Here are the students in JD's group on pajama day.  It doesn't get much better than going to drama camp AND wearing your PJs.
We also had a cub scout activity.  The boys got together for a round of capture the flag.  YEA -- I couldn't find JD's scout shirt. OH WELL!  One of the leaders goes over the rules.
The kids started running around and didn't seem to have much regard for the rules that had been explained to them.
George was the jailer and did his best to keep the prisoners from escaping.
Watermelon was a tasty treat after the battle was over.

Happy Father's Day

We went to visit Grandpa for father's day.  We also got another chance to play with Alexis.  JD is the grandson but Alexis is a GREAT granddaughter.  What can I say --- some have children younger than others.
Here is our first summer craft project.  JD and I have been doing tie dye every summer for several years now.  I think we FINALLY have the process figured out.  These little string backpacks turned out really colorful.

Lost Teeth and Found Fish

JD lost another tooth.  The tooth fairy left a whole dollar for this big front tooth.
After one group of cousins left we got to play with another.  Alexis came to play while her mom attended a funeral.  She and JD had fun with all the family wildlife.
Bass Pro Shops had some fun activities for kids in honor of father's day.  JD fished and . . .
. . . there it is!  What an expert fisherman.
Gumball played with one of Lulu's toys.  The bird isn't nearly as rough with toys as the dog.

Cousin Fun

Our cousins came to visit for a couple days and we have had SO MUCH FUN that I had to take lots of pictures.  WARNING documentation of the family fun to follow!
We started off at the Texas History museum where we learned about Texas music and . . .
. . . the fight for Texas Independence.
The girls had never seen a 3-D movie before so we had to take care of that.  In the Imax theater we learned about climate change and munched on treats.
We love moms eat free day at Gatti Town.  JD and Annie tried the magic motion ride.
We played lots of games.  Jackson just knew if he got closer to the holes he would be a ski-ball EXPERT.
We made a trip to JD's favorite place - the dinosaur museum.
OH NO!!  A dinosaur is eating the children!  The kids all stuck their hands in the dinosaur's mouth.  I promise they dropped money in and didn't fish any of the contributions out.
The fly wings were VERY interesting.
We stopped to pay tribute to our favorite President LBJ.  The library is being renovated so there wasn't much to see on the inside.  I guess the cousins will have to come visit again.
Thanks for all the fun!!  Please come back and visit again soon!

A Week of Basketball

JD and his friend Lincoln spent the week at Basketball Camp.  It has been fun but exhausting.  The boys didn't have quite as much pep in their step on Friday as they did on Monday.
"Coach Roger" comes every year to help with Basketball camp.  He graduated from Bowie in 19xx (since it would date me we won't say exactly when).  He was in one of my first classes and was one of those students that you never forget.  He is just as fun an energetic as a coach as he was as a student.
The head basketball coach starts every morning with a talk, a few jokes, and a mid court behind the head shot at the basket.  Eventually he will make that shot.  He does every year.
Tuesday was Lincoln's birthday so we celebrated with pizza . . .
 . . . and games . . .
. . . and rides.

Jumping Jacks

Basketball Camp started this week.  Here are the boys doing some jumping jacks to warm up.  As they exercise the kids count 1 - 5 and then 5 - 1 and spell DAWGS. YES -- I know  dogs isn't spelled with a w -- BUT -- remember this is a camp run by athletes not academics!

This little bird . . .

. . . has a really big attitude . . . and he loves cherries.
