More Grandmaster Lee Pictures

There was a semi professional photographer at JD's seminar on Saturday.  Here are some pictures that he took.  They look lots better than mine.  I can't say enough good things about what learning martial arts has done for JD.

Grand Master Lee

JD has been looking forward to meeting Grand Master Lee every since it was announced that he would be coming to our local South Austin studio for a special class.
The day finally arrived.  He was very good with the kids and I have to say I admired the embroidery work on his uniform --- can I get some pajamas like that?
Part of the class included some weapons training.  When you only weigh 50 pounds it can be hard to control numb chucks
We learned about pressure points.  Pulling on you ear this way is supposed to help relieve headaches.  He kept encouraging all the moms sitting on the sidelines to try it.  In general, I think there is something to acupuncture and pressure points -- this just made my ear hurt.  I'll have to try it next time I have a headache and see.
The students practiced their forms and techniques.
Afterward JD got a certificate and a handshake from the Grand Master.

Busy Times

We are staying busy as ever with . . .
. . .  school.  Here we are waiting for morning assembly to start.
. . . cub scouts.  JD won 2nd place in the annual rain gutter regatta where boats made out of juice boxes are powered by "wind."
. . . martial arts.  JD earned his yellow belt.
Here is the certificate to prove it.
When we need a break we go for a snow cone.  Our favorite snow cone trailer has returned for the summer.  JD's favorite flavor turns his tongue blue.  WOW - I'm tired just thinking about it all.

Yellow Belt Test

JD went to Mu Sool Won this morning for his yellow belt test.
As part of his test he broke this board with a palm strike.  It was VERY exciting and all the parents clapped for him.
To celebrate we went to Lockhart and ate meat.  You know you meat is fresh when you can watch them take it right out of the pitt and cut it for you.  YUM YUM - MEAT!

Cub Scout Camping

Our family spent the weekend camping with the cub scouts.  JD lines up here to be part of the opening ceremonies.
Our home away from home.  YES - the bright pink chair is mine.  We end up carrying our chairs to a lot of cub scout assemblies while camping.  Nobody every picks up mine by mistake.
The park had several learning to fish stations at their visitor's center.  Here JD learns how to tie a knot on a fishhook.
Finally - off to catch a REAL fish.  It was a beautiful fishing spot and a nice cool morning.  The boys did catch a fish before one of the scouts dropped his keys into the water.  THEN - George caught the lost keys.  That catch was a big hit.
JD decided worms make interesting play things as well as good bait.  Thankfully, he didn't demand that we keep one as a pet.
