Memorial Day and Beyond

The cub scouts always end the year with a huge water balloon fight.  I didn't get very good pictures because I was trying to stay out of the line of fire.
The scouts bring ice chests FULL of water balloons which they then throw at one another.  The gentleman in the front of this picture is our long suffering den leader Jorge.
After the fight the cleanup begins.  It looks like JD got his fair share of hits.
Thanks to Uncle Keith for finding the skylander that everyone here was sold out of.  There must be fewer little boys on the hunt in his small Mississippi town than in Austin.
We did have one Memorial Day appropriate activity.  We cleaned off the headstones at the cemetery and took flowers to Grandma and Grandpa.
One funny story (at George's expense).  When he gets a blog he can tell funny stories about me!  He was helping me unpack my grocery sacks from Wal-mart and wondered what I planned on cooking with these skewers.  It's time to start working on my Christmas presents.  I don't know what I'll be "cooking" but will probably involve these knitting needles and that ball of yarn beside them.

Baptism Weekend

JD was baptized this weekend.
Uncle Keith came for the festivities.
The celebration involved a trip to our favorite Mexican Restaurant.

Happy Mother's Day

Most people go to their high school prom once or twice --
A few of us are lucky enough to go over and over again.  It has become an annual reminder that another school year is about to end.  This year's event was fun and the kids looked as beautiful as ever.

We spent mother's day with Grandma.  JD had a great time playing with his cousin and Grandma's new dog Chico.  Someday JD will grow out of the need to make a silly face in every picture I take.  Maybe he'll smile for me in HIS prom picture.

Happy Birthday

They boy is 8!  How did that happen so quickly
His big birthday present was this bicycle.  He spent most of the day trying to learn how to ride it.  He ALMOST has it -- by the end of the week he should have it.
Learning to ride a bike is hungry work.  JD picked Gatti Town for dinner.  He definitely ate his money's worth.
Gatti Town had lots of games but the bumper cars are JD's favorite.
We got so busy bike riding yesterday that we didn't have time for cake until today.  This is the character from a video game JD plays --- that's what he wanted on his cake.  I did my best to recreate the guy from minecraft.  JD was happy so that's what counts.
