Memorial Day

JD and I made an early morning trip to the Grocery store down the street.
JD did some dancing.  When the clerk saw his amazing dance skills he turned up the music for him.
He was so inspired that we decided to come home and make tortillas.  YUM!!

Reading is Fun

At least reading is fun at book fair.  I am a sucker for books of all kinds so book fair is fun for me too.
JD graduated from the reading program that he has been doing.  He LOVES Ms. Mathieu but you sure couldn't tell it from this funky 10 year old boy hug.
Here they all are with their wax lips ready to spend the summer reading books.

We Want a Pitcher

JD has been playing spring baseball but I don't have many pictures of him.  The parent with the fancy camera who was on our team in the fall and took all the great pictures isn't with us this time.  On top of that, I have taken on the task of score keeper.  I can't keep score and take pictures at the same time - I'm just not much of a multi tasker.
JD had the chance to pitch on Saturday and I was able to get a few pictures of him during warm ups.  He has been having a great time.

Happy Mother's Day

We spent Mother's Day with Grandma.  JD enjoyed playing with his cousin Lexi and running in Grandma's big back yard.  Happy Mother's Day Grandma.

Blue and Gold Weekend

The culminating event every year for cub scouts is the Blue and Gold banquet.  This year our banquet turned into a weekend full of events --- thanks to the wonderful folks from our pack who planned the event.  When no one else volunteered to do the work my friend Robin and I agreed to take on the task.  That's why it turned out extra special -- WE were in charge.
JD started on Saturday morning at a police training facility working on his Readyman badge.  I don't really understand the significance of Mount Medearis --- but here is JD standing on it.
The festivities included camping.  Every little boy's favorite camping event is the poking of the fire.
JD and Robin prepared to serve BBQ to the hungry masses.
This didn't turn out to be the best picture but the program started at sunset with this group of boy scouts doing an indian ceremony for each of the rank levels as the boys got their awards.
 JD earned his Webelos badge.
He had his face painted in honor of his award.
Our campsite was part of Camp Mabry.  The bathrooms just had rows of toilets in them.  George said this is what military bathrooms look like.  Hmmmm, not sure how I feel about this - BUT - since I went home to my own private bathroom on Sunday morning I'll just show you the picture and let you draw your own conclusion about it.
