Go Potty - Get Skittles

We haven't been very successful at going potty so I decided to try bribery. Actually, our pediatrician suggested it a year ago -- I'm just slow. So, every time JD uses the potty he gets skittles. He's been doing a good job so far. Here he is sitting on his Elmo Potty.
But before he can eat his skittles he has to smell them. "Smells good."

Then we choose two candies to eat. Yum Yum

Here Comes Peter Cottontail . . .

. . . Hopping down the bunny trail. Here is JD hunting the eggs that were left at our house last night. He brought the ears home from school. The kids there wore them to hunt eggs.
WOW - here's a pink one!

The Easter Bunny is very smart. He knew that JD would enjoy dinosours and cars in his eggs. That's way better than candy.

A whole basket full of goodies.
There was play-doh in JD's Easter Basket. Dad helped him make this stylish mustache out of it.

Easter Crafts

We died Easter eggs this afternoon. Here JD is dipping his egg in the dye . . .
. . . and WOW -- it comes out blue. He was quite upset when he only got to dye a dozen eggs.

Here is another craft idea for you. This is goldfish crackers in a disposable cake decorating tube tied with green ribbon. Isn't it CUTE?! I didn't make this one up I copied from a friend.

BBQ

Kyle and Marci -- this one is for you. We had lunch at Rudy's this afternoon and went to the back 40 so JD could play while we ate. Here he is sipping on a soda. I was afraid taking a picture of our actual food would make you too sad.

Goats Gone Wild

Since today is Good Friday there was no school. In honor of this day JD and I spent the day at the zoo with friends. It was a cute little zoo with just enough animals to keep us busy for the afternoon. We saw lions, tigers and bears OH MY! --- AND, this turtle. With all the exotic animals out there JD kept asking about the fish. WHAT FISH? This is a zoo not an aquarium.
JD pretended he was a duck.

He enjoyed a ride on the train with his buddy Noah.

But, the most exciting part of the zoo were the goats. We had some food and JD enjoyed feeding them.

He laughed when they licked his hand.

THEN, the goats got a little more assertive!

FINALLY, we had to leave. There is only so much goat spit that a little boy can take in one day.

The Swiss Soccer Star

We got a surprise package in the mail this evening with this Swiss Soccer Uniform. JD wasn't really in the mood to get his picture taken so this is the best I could do. It fits pretty well, especially when you consider that basically all clothes are a little big on him. George saw the chocolate and immediately said "ohhh, that's for me!" THANK YOU for our goodies!! We appreciate you thinking of us.

Nemo Jamas - The Return of Nemo

JD loves pajamas! As soon as we get home in the afternoon he wants to put on "jamas." Ahhh, he's a boy after my own heart. The Nemo pajamas he had were his favorites and he wore them anytime they weren't in the washing machine. Since Nemo was out so many years ago it was impossible to find new ones at the store. Thank goodness for e-bay. These are his NEW Nemo jamas purchased from the jama undergound online.

Hooray for Dandelions

As we were driving out of the church parking lot this afternoon JD said "I want to see Lucy." He was very sad when I reminded him that Lucy had gone home last night and would not be at our front door waiting for him. Dandelions aren't as fun as dogs but they'll do in a pinch. JD LOVES making all the little seeds fly away in the wind. He can't quite blow hard enough to do it so he has to use his fingers. George is funny about JD's church clothes (which he is still wearing in these pictures). Every Sunday when we are headed out the door he says "You dress the boy better than me." To which I reply, "I pick out the boy's clothes, who picks out yours." We're only kidding, but I do think JD is quite a handsome little guy when he is all cleaned up in his Sunday best.

Lucy's Number One Rule is . . .

. . . no people food. But, apparently this isn't a rule that Lucy is very fond of. Here she is begging for a taste of JD's snack. We've done a pretty good job following the rule . . . WELL, except for the chicken nugget incident. Last night we had chicken for supper. I fixed JD's plate, sat it on the table and then went to get something. When I got back, there was JD's plate MINUS the chicken. Lucy hadn't touched the broccoli or the potatos. I guess Lucy and JD have similar taste in food. CARNIVORES

I Love Lucy

Lucy has only been with us for 24 hours and already JD is professing his love. It was funny - when we went to bed last night JD said "night night, I love you Lucy." Silly boy, he doesn't even say "I love you Mommy" without me promting him. We took Lucy with us to the park this afternoon. JD was a big helper holding on to her leash.
My big boy has decided he can climb these steps to the slide all by himself. When he gets to the top he says, "I did it."

After a long day JD wanted to rock for a few minutes. Lucy decided she was tired and needed to rock too. I'm feeling a little overly loved!!! HELP - I need a spa day!

Child's Play

I've read enough other blogs now to realize I'm no wordsmith. I'm more of a picture book type of author. A few captions under pictures seems to be my style. We continued our spring break festivities today with a trip to the Children's Museum. We have been before but now JD is big enough to really have fun with the activities. Here he is playing the xylophone.
He put together these giant tinker toys.

JD made music by throwing balls down tubes into this exhibit.

We played with sand in the construction zone.

We sorted some pegs into holes.

AND, JD drove a bus. On our way home we ran into tons of SXSW traffic. Something I hadn't taken into consideration when I decided to go downtown this morning. Maybe we should have taken a real bus.

Adventures With Lucy

Our day began peacefully enough. This is the calm before the storm. At six this morning . . .
Lucy arrived!

In my efforts to get a picture of Lucy and JD together JD learned the "down" command.

It only took Lucy a minute to figure out that JD isn't a very neat eater. She was more than happy to clean up the crumbs he dropped.

She continued her job as a K-9 dust buster and cleaned up JD's chair.

Lucy even helped supervise JD's bath. She is only with us for a couple days so tune in tomorrow for more "Adventures With Lucy."

Miss Staci

This is spring break week -- WOO HOO!!!! Yesterday was Ruth day. I went to Yoga class and did my shopping for the Easter Bunny. Today was mother son day. JD and I signed up for a summer Gymnastics class this morning. Thank you Rachel for inviting us to go with you last summer so we would know how fun it is. Classes don't start till June but we didn't want to wait until the last minutes. Next, it was off to see Miss Staci. Here we are waiting for her to begin. Can you tell JD is excited?
Here is Miss Staci singing our favorite song "Tom Tom T-Rex." It was very crowded today and so we just couldn't manage to get us and Miss Staci in the same photo.
After she sings we always get stickers. I thought this was a great picture of the back of JD's head as he pushed his way to the front to make sure he didn't get left out. We had pizza at Sam's for lunch and then ran a couple errands. It was a very fun filled day.

Happy Birthday . . .

. . . Noah. JD was the youngest of Noahs friends at his surprise birthday party. He had a great time playing with the girls. It makes sense since they screamed and ran around just like his friends in his class at school. I've decided that 13 year olds are just like 2 year olds in bigger bodies and with slightly bigger vocabularies.

My heros have always been . . .

. . . COWBOYS! Or so sings Willie Nelson. We went to our second Rodeo Rumble this morning and ran the kids 1K. George says JD is his mother's son and therefore NOT athletic. We had fun even if lots of other kids passed us.
Rodeo Queens love to have their picture taken with you -- even if you aren't athletic.

We rode a stagecoach . . .

. . . AND a pony. JD picked out the white one while we were standing in line.

We fed a few animals. JD thought it was funny when the goats licked his hand.

We shopped for a BBQ pit. JD says -- "Dad's is better than any of these!"

The John Deeres were very shiney.

JD gave this truck his stamp of approval. Too bad his allowance won't cover the payments.

All the activities made us hungry so we had and extra long corn dog.
