Cub Scouts

One of JD's Cub requirements is to visit a media outlet. TV and newspapers aren't really anxious to host a group of 6 year old. THANK GOODNESS for our journalism teacher! She was SUPER about letting the kids come see what high school newspapers were all about.

The boys got to see where the kids work on the newspaper.

The highlight was the little TV station that the kiddos got to see. They each took turns being filmed anchoring the morning announcements.

JD got his turn operating the camera.

They also worked the teleprompter. The scouts loved seeing themselves on TV.

Karate Birthday

One of JD's friends had a birthday party this weekend at a Karate studio. JD had fun and wanted to break a board when he got home.

Wicked

JD and I went to see Wicked on Saturday afternoon. The special effects were fun. The bad witch and her broom both flew. The flying monkeys had wings but didn't fly. The Lion King is coming next season. We can't wait to see that one.

Skylanders

Pinewood Derby update ---- The Cub Scout Pack released the times from last week's race. It turns out JD's car was 16th out of the 80 cars that raced. NOT BAD!!! Just not good enough for a trophy.

JD got an x box for Christmas and can't get enough of this game. Skylanders lets you play as all these different characters -- you just place them on the portal of power. Mom refuses to learn how to play video games -- that's my rule for myself.
