Riding a Bike

JD discovered that peddling and steering at the same time is just not that easy.
So dad had to help.

It didn't take long for JD to figure out that dad could push faster than he could peddle. There were plenty of cries of "PUSH DA PUSH." For the record JD owes dad a few wheel chair pushes in his old age. to make up for all the bike pushing that happened today.
We still have some work to do before we'll be ready for the Tour de France.

Disney endorsement

JD needs a kickback from Walt Disney. Here he is brushing his teeth with a
Thomas Toothbrush
wearing his
Nemo Pajamas
and his
Cars Slippers.
He's like a walking ad for Disney.

Christmas Day

Santa visited the Narvaiz family and brought JD this tricycle and the Lightning McQueen slippers he is wearing.
Santa left this Woody doll in JD's stocking. Notice the empty holster. JD told me that was for Woody's phone. HA HA HA HA HA He is such a child of the 21st century.

After opening presents at home we went to visit Grandpa in San Marcos. JD was extra good so Santa dropped off a present for him at Grandpa's house too. Here he is helping dad assemble it. Santa can't have all the fun. He has to leave some of the fun for dads.

LOTS of assembly was required!

BUT -- we finally got a finished product and JD was thrilled with his tractor. He couldn't even eat he was so excited about riding the tractor.

JD played with his cousin Justin.

AND, posed for a picture with Grandpa before heading home.

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve in Marble Falls. JD was thrilled to discover that Grandpa Brian had a tractor. He was perfectly happy sitting on it until . . .

Dad discovered it had they keys in it and took him for a ride. That was even MORE exciting.

We tried a few family pictures. But JD wasn't into them.

Presents were more fun. Someone must have known that Thomas was JD's favorite.

On the way home we stopped at the Walkway of Lights.

JD enjoyed the lights.

Night photography isn't my best thing.

Christmas Sweater

JD wore his Christmas Sweater to church today. When we pulled up at church he pointed to the building and said "church yeah." I hope that enthusiasm continues!

Saturday

Our family braved the mall today. We went out early because I promised JD he could ride the train again. He is going to be so sad when Christmas is over and they take down the train. I didn't take anymore pictures of the train. Go back a couple entries and look at a previous picture of JD in the mall train. It pretty much looked the same. Here he is in front of a Texas Santa that I thought was pretty cute.
Besides the train JD also likes the escalators at the mall. Here he is riding up.

AND - riding back down again.

My Turn

My boy LOVES the computer. Here he is sufing his favorite web site www.joemcdermottmusic.com. If you want to check it out be sure to listen to JD's two favorite songs -- Baby Kangaroo and Don't Drop a Brick on You Foot (it will hurt). He used to just come up and want to sit on my lap while I was at the computer. NOW, he wants me to set him in the chair and push it up so he can compute by himself. If I've been on the computer too long he uses his new favorite phrase - "My Turn." I bet he learned that one at school!

Drive the Car

Every afternoon when I get JD out of his carseat he crawls to the front seat to "drive the car." This afternoon I kept asking him if he was ready to come in yet and he just kept insisting the he needed to "drive the car." Fourteen more years and you can JD.

Ride the Train

Since today was a t-shirts and shorts kind of day we decided to go to the park and ride the train.
Dad and JD enjoyed the Christmas decorations that were set up along the route. The trail of lights opens tomorrow night but we could see many of the decorations from the train.

After the train ride JD enjoyed a few trips down the slide.

White Elephants

JD went with us to his favorite Christmas party. He participated in the white elephant exchange and got scented candles. That may seem like a present that isn't all that appropriate for a two year old, BUT, he loved it. He has a strange affection for scented candles and always wants to smell them in the store. He walked around the party sniffing his candles perfectly content with his present.

He met Rio at the party and the two of them hit it off. Here they are taking turns riding Aunt Pat's horse. They had a great time dancing with an antimated Santa figurine. I was told they pushed the button on Santa 78 times and danced with him. Dancing is supposed to be good exercise so maybe they burned off all the Christmas cookie calories they consumed.

All the happy party goers posed for one last picture before heading home.

Away in a Manger.

This is the nativity that is set up outside JD's school. He says "good morning" and "bye bye" to Baby Jesus as we come and go every day. I took about six pictures but just could not get him to look at the camera while I took a picture.

We also have to say "bye bye" to the Christmas tree in the afternoon. Today's go home snack was fruit snacks which is the only reason the tree doesn't have his full attention today. Normally his is more interested in touching the tree than in collecting his snack.

Thank You Rachel

Dear Rachel,

Thank you very much for the fun toys. I've never seen such fancy toys inside an egg before. One had a shark inside that looked just like Bruce the shark from Finding Nemo. I especially liked that one. Mom helped me eat the chocolate but I am not sharing my toys with her.

Love,

JD

Oh Christmas Tree

We put up our Christmas tree this evening and JD was a BIG helper. He thought the lights needed to go on in one big clump.
With all that help we couldn't possibly end up with anything but a beautiful tree. Ho Ho Ho and Merry Christmas
