Our New Family Member

If you are behind on reading the blog scroll down and read yesterday's entry first. We came home with Libby late yesterday evening. Here are a few more pictures of her.
She seems to like snoozing under the table where the tile is cool. She's a very relaxed dog.
She isn't afraid of George which makes her much better than LuLu -- in George's opinion anyway.
She wants JD to invite her up on the bed. SO SORRY - no new dogs on the bed! We took her to the vet and she has a clean bill of health. More dog updates to come.

It's Official . . .

. . . we've lost our minds. We decided LuLu needs a friend so we went to the animal shelter.
JD liked ALL the dogs there. At practically every cage he said, "can we buy this dog?" If it were up to him we'd have adopted every dog there.
We found this little gem. She's an 8 month old red heeler mix. She came with the name Nina but we decided since there was already a member of the family with that name we'd have to change it. I'm not to sure the human Nina would appreciate a dog with her name. We named her Libby. She seems to get along fine with both JD and LuLu.

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day Grandpa!!

HOORAY -- Long Weekend!!

It was a relaxing weekend for our family. JD and George watched their favorite movie, "Ghost Rider." They are so funny. They can quote lines to one another. JD says, "Let's ride" and George has to ride the horse while JD rides the motorcycle. OK -- maybe you had to be there. Go rent the movie. You'll see.
This doggie is still around. We almost got her a doggie friend today. I'm not sure I'm ready to go back into puppy training mode. We just got his one trained.
What would memorial day be without some outdoor cooking? JD thinks cooking over fire is exciting.
We went to see this movie. JD has been waiting forever for it to come out. He was really good and watched the whole thing.
One more picture. JD had finally discovered the joy of licking the beaters. For the longest time whenever I offered it to him he said "yuk" and ran away. Not anymore! The boy is growing up.

Beautiful Sunset

We went and spent the evening with some friends who live outside the city. JD enjoyed playing with the dogs while we enjoyed this lovely sunset.

Peanuts Anyone?

Breakfast has always been a struggle for JD. WELL, except for bacon days. But, we just can't have bacon EVERY day. So this morning I ran down my usual list of breakfast choices. Do you want a pop tart, cereal, peanut butter toast . . . . . .
When I got to peanut butter JD asked, "can I just have peanuts?" Hmmm, peanuts -- peanut butter. I guess that is basically the same thing. SURE little boy -- have peanuts for breakfast.

What We REALLY Love About Swim Lessons

Jumping into the water is fun.
JD's new swim teacher is SUPER FUN!
BUT -- the funest thing of all is playing hide and seek in the locker room when we are changing.

Straight Candy Treat

JD kept asking me for a "straight candy treat." WHAT THE HECK??? It took me quite awhile to figure out he was talking about licorice. So, here he is with his straight candy treat. Whenever JD is eating LuLu isn't far behind. When the boy eats there are always crumbs involved.

Prom 09

This ice sculpture announced your arrival at Prom 09 Saturday night.
The them included these around the world decorations. Before the festivities began we had our pictures taken in France. . .

. . . and in Antarctica. Never mind that I almost broke the sled.
Finally we ended our trip in Egypt. We thought the decorations were fabulous.

We Love Miss Kara

Miss Kara is JD's favorite teacher and so we were VERY EXCITED when she invited us to her wedding.
JD, Jordan and Lucy have all been together practically from birth. They were all happy to share in Miss Kara's special day --- AND her cake.
JD is the blue BLUR who went out to catch the garter.
JD and his friends danced the YMCA . . .
. . . and the chicken dance. Notice that JD has danced so vigorously now that his shirt has come untucked.

Happy Mother's Day

JD sang with all the children at church on Sunday. I often go walking . . . is probably the standard Mormon Mother's Day song. I remember singing it when I was a little girl. JD is in the blue shirt just to the left of the podium. Sorry about the bad camera shot. In church on Sunday you do the best you can. Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Happy Birthday

JD -- How old are you today?
All JD wanted for his birthday was to bounce and eat cake with his friends. Brace yourselves, I took lots of pictures. We had such a fun day celebrating with all of JD's friends.
Everyone met at Pump it Up. All JD's friends wished him a happy birthday and paid extra close attention to the safety video.
Grandma and Grandpa Brian came for the festivities.
JD came down the giant slide.
And he BOUNCED!!
Sometimes you have to take a little rest.
Even Mommy and Pat got it on the action.
JD and all his friends posed for a birthday picture.
Then it was off to our party room for some pizza and cake.
The birthday boy sat in the special birthday chair.
He opened his gifts.
Gift opening deteriorated into paper tearing on the floor.
After all the fun we met the family to enjoy some fish in honor of Mother's Day. JD was so exhausted from the party he could hardly keep his eyes open. THANKS to everyone who came and helped us celebrate. We hope you all had a super fun time!!

Viva Cinco De Mayo

Hola Ya'll!! It's Cinco De Mayo time again.
JD wore a sombrero for the ocassion.
We enjoyed petting this camel. The camel had really yuckie teeth that it kept showing us. Hmmm, kind of like his handler. I tried my best to engage the camel guy in conversation and figure out why they had a camel at a Mexican fiesta. He just wasn't very talkative. Actually, I think the camel talked more than the man did.
There were a few carnival rides that we enjoyed. JD is in the red shirt and his cousin Justin is in the car behind him. JD said the roller coaster was really fast.
JD enjoyed riding the pink elephant.
The thing that entertained the boys the most was this big fenced in dirt area. Boys and dirt -- a perfect combination!
Everyone (except me) enjoyed some menudo. Too bad we can't make the menudo pictures scratch and sniff. When we arrived first thing this morning JD said, "What is that smell" and made a horrible face. THAT my son is the smell of menudo!! YUM YUM
