Good Friday

Any Friday we don't have to go to school is a GOOD Friday.  This one was especially fun.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 the LBJ Library had a special exhibit.  JD and I went to see the Emancipation Proclamation and one of the hats that President Lincoln wore.  NO - not the white cowboy hat - that was Johnson's - the top hat next to it.
JD was also happy to invite his friend Lincoln to share in the Easter festivities at Mu Sool Won.  Here all the kids lined up for a photo before being let in to hunt for eggs.
The boys also played games where they tried to move a cookie down their face and into their mouth - WITHOUT touching it with their hands.
They also kicked a plastic egg through an obstacle course of kick shields.  The boys had fun and went home with candy.

Noncamping Campout

We had a great weekend not camping at the Cub Scout campout.  The campout was close to home and it looked like rain so we went Saturday and spent the day but came home and slept in our own beds.
The first order of business was fishing.  We never have much luck catching any fish when there are a bunch of little boys running around making lots of noise.  Worms are always fun to play with though.
The Texas Military Forces Museum was an interesting place to visit.  There were lots of vintage tanks to investigate.
JD tried on some bullet proof equipment and decided it was too heavy!  Guess that means he's not ready to enlist.
No campout would be complete without sometime around a fire.  It was cool enough that sitting around the fire turned out to be quite cozy.
