Halloween

We love Halloween and get in as many celebrations as we can.
At school we all dressed like musicians.  Once I got to school my Willie Nelson outfit seemed a little
boring compared to Gene Simmons.

Trunk or Treat at the church is JD's favorite.  He loves having a chance to hold the snake.
The goat wasn't spooky but still fun to pet and feed.
JD and his friend Lincoln collected enough candy for a proper sugar high.

ADD

Sometimes I worry that JD has ADD -- then I go to cub scouts and decide -- THEY ALL have ADD.
Most of the pictures I took this week looked like this --- the boys were a blur as they ran by.
Once in awhile they slowed down for just a minute or two.

Track and Field Day

Friday was track and field day at JD's school.  I didn't get to go - but here are some of the pictures of his class courtesy of another mom.
All the kids wanted to look cool in their sunglasses
AND - they all look so big.  For some of them this is their third year together.

When the cat's away the mice . . .

. . . go to Costco and eat pizza!
When we first met George bemoaned the fact that all my friends were teachers.  Now, all these years later, many of his friends are also teachers.  Teacher who like to go fishing!  George has gone to the coast fishing the the Economics teachers from Bowie High School.  He learned several years ago that they don't throw you overboard if you don't know what the GDP is - teachers are just regular people after all.  While he was away JD and I ran errands and played.  I promised him that every other errand would be fun.  To counteract the flu shot he got first thing in the morning we had pizza -- it was only 10:00 a.m. but what better time for a little pizza snack.
After the torture of trying on new shoes (for him - not me) I let him pick out a book at the store.  YES - he was excited and considered a new book a treat.
Finally, it was movies and pizza (again I know) at the Alamo Draft house.  We love the ticket robot out front.  Dad will be home later today - we'll see if he caught us any supper.

Early Release

JD's school had an early release day but mine didn't.  I picked him up after lunch and then he made himself at home at my desk.
My new document camera proved to be very interesting.  His school has had this equipment since kindergarten but of course THERE he doesn't get to play with it.  JD contorted his body so he could get his face up on the overhead.
We sometimes have non traditional breakfast food for breakfast.  JD's favorite is spaghetti.
It looks like gumball also enjoys some morning pasta.

Roars and Snores

JD and the cub pack had a roars and snores weekend at the San Antonio Zoo.  Since the program only allowed limited participants each scout was only allowed one parent.  JD picked George so this is my second hand, hearsay account of the weekend.
The evening presentation included snakes -- of course -- what else would you show a bunch of little boys.
There was also this chance to pet a baby armadillo.  A flashlight tour of the zoo must have been spooky.  So spooky that they were afraid to take pictures.
After a night of very little sleep - or at least that was the report I got from dad - the boys got to explore the zoo again.
Having the zoo all to yourself must be nice.  They were able to be there at a time when it was closed to the public.
After a train ride the boys headed home.  What did I do while they were gone?  I tried to take a picture of myself trying on shoes at Nordstroms but I never could quite capture the joy of the evening.
