Green Belt Promotion

JD lined up with the other students who were being promoted for the ceremony.  I love that for formal events like this the black belts wear their fancy uniforms.  To me they look like the skirts that cheer leaders wear.  I don't think they would appreciate that comparison.

JD's old belt is removed by one person and the new one is put on by another.

There is this round of advancing students.
Ricky and his wife Megan are the owners and instructors at the school.  They are both third degree black belts.  I wouldn't want to see what a fight in that household looks like. Ha Ha Ha Ha

Spring Break

JD and I had a few days off school for spring break.  Another set of Ridings came to visit, but we were so busy having fun I forgot to take a single picture.  You'll just have to use your imagination.  Imagine Donna and I shopping til we drop and Don reading in relative peace and quiet.
After the Ridings left JD and I went to Gatti Town for teachers eat free day.  It is the one day I get my money's worth out of a trip to JD's favorite eating establishment.
We spent a day at the livestock show and rodeo.  "Walking on water" is something JD can't ever master - but that doesn't keep him from trying every time he has a chance.
The rodeo always has a healthy assortment of foods to try.  Next time I decide I need to try a fried oreo it's JD's job to remind me NOT TO!
Our last day of spring break was spent at a friend's St. Patrick's day party.  JD found lots of green accessories to improve his outfit.

Green Belt

J.D. has been working hard to get his green belt.  He passed his test today.  As part of the test he had to break a board using ax kick.

The Ridings are Here

We were VERY excited to get a suprise visit from my nephew Nathan last night.  He was only in town for two nights but we were happy he was able to fit us into his schedule.  The next wave of Ridings are due in to town this afternoon.  WOO HOO - the Ridings are coming!

Blue and Gold AGAIN

I found a couple more Blue and Gold banquet pictures on my phone that I had forgotten about.  Our cub master dressed up so that he could "knight" all the boys that got their Arrow of Light awards and were moving on to Boy Scouts.  The crew that performed the indian ceremony posed for pictures too.  These kids do a great job every year and help make the ceremony much more fun for the boys.

Blue and Gold

JD earned his Bear award at the Blue and Gold banquet this weekend.  We have have a great group of boys to work with!
I'm not sure I would use the term BANQUET to describe this event but there was food involved.

Capital Field Trip

I went on my very first Elementary School Field trip with JD's class.
It was a cold and rainy day at the state capital.   The rain and cold did not interfere the kid's fun or with their love of field trips.
We looked at the rotunda - yes it is bigger than the one on the U.S. capital -- Everything is bigger in Texas.
We learned about laws in the House chamber.
The boys played among the memorials on the lawn - cannons were their favorite.  I don't know how Elementary school teachers do it --- the day was absolutely exhausting!
