Hot Hot Hot

What do you do when it gets to 109 degrees outside?  Seek refuge in a dark theater with a tub of popcorn!

A Dramatic Week

George says JD gets all of his athletic ability from me.  THAT is why drama camp was such a big hit.  No athletic ability required.
Every day had a different theme.  Here is a picture down the hall that I took on neon day.
Friday was superhero day.  One of JD's group leaders for the week was a high schooler whose name was DJ - ha ha ha ha ha.  DJ didn't mind posing for a picture, but JD told me I was embarrassing.
We also made a trip to the dentist this week.  Our dentist's oldest daughter painted JD's hand as a bonus for being extra good while getting his cavity filled.

The Artist

On the last day of school JD came home with a bag full of artwork.  Of course, he thinks all of it needs to be treasured and hung up for all to see.  There is just no way.  Our house would look like one of those from TV that requires an intervention if we saved everything he thinks we should.  Here is my way of preserving his art.  Enjoy!

Another Week - Another Camp

This week is soccer camp.  Soccer is extra fun because it is run by the girls soccer team AND
our favorite coach.  She teaches a couple doors down from me and we have eatten lots of lunches together.  She takes good care of my boy.
We have also been swimming.  JD has been doing lessons at the YMCA to work on his skills.

Another Day of Basketball

Basketball campers circled while Coach Collier went through his morning routine.  He is never this entertaining with the big kids during the school year.
The boys talked me into stopping for a snowcone on the way home.  I have to admit that it doesn't take much talking.  I love the snow cones too!
While they boys played ball I went to yoga.  The room even looks relaxing doesn't it?!
We rounded off the day with a trip to the orthodontist.  Darn that boy is expensive.

My Favorite Things

I made this t-shirt quilt for a friend who retired this year.  I wish I had saved all those old t-shirts.  I cleaned them out years ago.  Darn -- you can't save everything or your house would be on one of those hoarder TV shows.
Here are a couple of my favorite things about summer.  BASKETBALL CAMP!  I dropped JD and his friend off this morning for a couple hours of dribbling fun.
Here's my real favorite -- notice how many people are going into the grocery store??
Notice how many people are IN the store???  That's right - NONE!  I love being able too grocery shop during non-peak hours.

Summer Vacation Day 1

How did JD and I spend the first day of summer vacation?  At a faculty meeting!
Hooray for video games to keep little boys busy during the "festivities."
Two of my good friends, Linda and Eddie are retiring this year.  I am so sad to see them go!  Linda has 8 children (WOW) and has always been my go to person when I need mothering advice.

Last Day of School

The last day of school means morning assembly on the black top.  The cafeteria is being set up for 5th grade graduation.  JD isn't there yet --- he is moving on up though.  Next year is 3rd grade.
Look at all those empty walls and chairs.  Ahhh, what a beautiful sight.  Summer vacation here we come.
Here are two family members that are extra glad for summer.  Summer time means their people are home to give them more attention and TLC
