Halloween Carnival

Here we are at the Halloween Carnival. JD wore his dog costume and had a super time. That scarey look in his eyes is bad photography. He hasn't really turned into a zombee.

Here he is at his FAVORITE booth - the tatoo booth.

He got a kiss from his buddy Lucy. Poor Lucy was confused and couldn't figure out why JD was dressed up in a Lucy outfit.

JD learned how to win these type of games at the last school carnival. You just walk right up to the target and you get it in every time. We played lots of games and came home with a bucket of candy.

Piano Man

This is how JD entertained himself this morning while I made breakfast. He accompanied himself singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Our Little Reader

JD LOVES to read. In the evenings he will bring book after book for me to read. As long as I'll read, he'll keep bring me books. This day he couldn't find anyone to read to him so he decided to read to himself. This particular story is about a woman who runs into the makings of a scarecrow. She finds shoes that go "clomp clomp" and a pair of pants that go "wiggle wiggle" and a shirt that goes "shake shake" . . . He can't really say all the words but I caught him turning the pages and saying "wiggle wiggle" and then wiggling.

JD is our little pick up man. Most weekends when we are going somewhere as a family he points to the truck and says "truck truck" and then "yeah" if we actually get to go somewhere in the truck. He doesn't ask for the truck on weekdays. I guess he knows we don't drive the truck to school.

Thursday Night Football

JD and I went to the football game this evening. It was a perfect cool night for a football game. Here he is getting his picture taken with the bulldog.

AND, he was very popular with the cheerleaders.

Big Bed

We have been transitioning JD to his big bed. Every night I ask him, "Do you want to sleep in your big bed or your little bed?" Last night he said big bed. SO, here he is sound asleep in his big bed with all the "equipment" he requires to go to sleep.

Fish Fry

Every summer George goes to the coast fishing with a group of die hard old salty fishermen. Once the weather cools down in the fall they all get together with their families for a fish fry. We all eat the fish they caught and listen to a lot of stories about the one that got away. Here are a couple of the fisherman with JD.

And while this very offical looking meeting went on. . . .

. . . JD jumped on the trampoline.

Friday Night Lights

Since Rachel has moved a LONG LONG way from us JD needs a new best friend/play date. We think that "Cousin Noah" may just have to fill that job. Here is JD with is Friday Night play date. JD cheered for Noah at the ball park. The chants of "Nooo ahhh, Nooo ahhh" continued into Saturday.

So, while we had dinner out, Noah and JD went to check out the pumpkins.

JD inspected them CLOSELY.

He decided this one was VERY big and VERY spooky.
And, as an added bonus, JD got a haircut.

Thomas and His Friends

When we went to ride Thomas on Saturday we got JD this little pop up train to play in. It is now his favorite toy. Last night he insisted that I get in it too and "ride Thomas." So, here we are reading our bedtime story while "riding Thomas." This morning we had to eat our cheerios while "riding Thomas." This train could sure use a first class car!

Cookies

JD has discovered that there's nothing better than a warm cookie. Here he is making some spooky halloween cookies.

Child Labor

We tried to exploit our child and get a little child labor out of him this morning. We are harvesting our pecan crop and thought the extra hands would come in handy.

Things didn't quite go as planned. JD enjoyed playing with sticks and crunching up leaves but never did quite get the idea of picking up nuts.

We did get a pretty good collection even without the assistance of child labor. We got enough for a pecan pie anyway.

Bounce

Thomas wasn't enough fun for us on Saturday so we also went to our local elementary school carnival. We went primarily to see Joe McDermott. He was FABULOUS, as usual. I was very surprised that JD would actually sit on his lap for this picture. He had a super time bouncing to his favorite song - "get yourself a baby kangaroo. They bounce and bounce and bounce . . . . . . " You get the idea. It may not be a top 40 hit, but then they don't ask 2 year olds when they put together those top 40 lists.

JD also got a lesson in taggin from his buddy Noah.

This was his favorite game -- The bean bag toss. He learned that if you walk right up to your target you can get it in every time.

He applied that same principle to the football toss. Learning from previous experiences -- WOW!

Thomas

We went to the convention center this morning for a day out with Thomas. There were lots of Thomas themed activities like this Thomas made of Legos. We played with toy trains and got a Thomas tatoo. They had about six tatoos to pick from but the sign said one tatoo per visitor please. When we asked JD which tatoo he wanted he said "all of them." WOW -- the boy is a tatoo addict. I hope it is only a phase and he grows out of it before he's 18. We also got to see Miss Stacy and sing a little Tom Tom T-Rex and Big Bubble B-Bop!!!

Here we are waiting for our ride.

Once we were on the train JD was way to excited to sit still and get his picture taken.

Homecoming

We went to the homecoming festivities this afternoon. Here are JD and Aunt Pat anxiously awaiting the start of the parade. Here are some of the fine floats that we saw in the parade. JD especially liked the candy they threw at us. He came home with a whole bucket full of treats.

Who knew we had a ping pong club --- but here they are in the parade.

I can't remember who this was but they were all decked out according the the "haunted" theme.

The senior class dressed like pirates in their ship.

And here we are at the pep rally watching the girls danced. We can hardly wait for the game tomorrow night.

Wake up!

I sat on the bed in JD's room with him last night to watch Scooby Doo -- AGAIN!!
Before I knew it he was right in my face saying "it's over, brush teeth." So, I fell asleep but he didn't. How will I ever know if Scooby solved the mystery. Oh yes, I'm sure we will watch it again this evening too.

All things Spooky

JD has discovered Halloween. It started with the blow up haunted house at Sam's. We have called in the spooky house and so now anytime we see halloween decorations he points them out and says "SPOOKY." The other night he wanted to watch something spooky on TV so I went and found a Scooby Doo DVD and let him watch it. We have now watched Scooby Doo at least 37 times! Yesterday when we made our weekly trek to Sam's JD was VERY sad that the spooky house was up on top of the display so we can't walk through it anymore. OH NO!

A Day With Dad

Since today was Columbus Day and JD's school was closed he got to spend the day with Dad. Dad served him his favorite foods at lunch -- Cheetos dipped in mustard. YUM YUM!! Make sure you lick off the mustard so you can double dip. That's how JD says it is tastiest.

Saturday at Expo

Our family enjoyed Saturday at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Expo. We saw lots of live animals but this is the only one JD was allowed to ride.

And here he is checking out the latest tractors. Just call him "farmer John."
