A Little More Winter Break

We've been having a little more winter break fun. We went to Bass Pro Shops.
Do you like JD's new look? I think the Michael Jackson jacket (yes -- he's still wearing it round the clock) goes well with the Davey Crockett hat and the snake boa. He's a stylish kid.
We at some fish while we were there.
JD got his teeth cleaned at the dentist and was THRILLED that nothing needed drilling or filling!
Dad and JD have been playing Transformers. "Autobots transform."

Last Week as a Sunbeam

Today was JD's last Sunday as a Sunbeam. Next week he will move up to his new primary class. We are SO SAD to say goodbye to our wonderful teachers. They have been both kind and patient to a very wiggly little boy.

Disney Live

We went to see Disney Live this afternoon. There were plenty of Disney stars singing and dancing.
These green army men from Toy Story may not be the STARS but they were my favorites.
JD's favorites were the snacks. Enjoy that EXPENSIVE cotton candy and raspa.

Merry Christmas

We woke up early this morning to see if Santa had come to our house.
The first present was a Michael Jackson Thriller jacket. You'll notice he never took it off again.
AHHHH, Santa got it right!! This is what JD REALLY wanted.
There were lots of Transformers. Good luck trying to put those together Dad.
Rocky the Robot truck was a fun toy.
Poor LuLu. She got a toy but was so confused by all the packages.
It looks like Santa ate the cookies and milk we left for him.
JD is practicing for his future career as a contortionist. PLEASE - no jokes about the box being more fun than the toys.

Christmas Eve

We enjoyed our Christmas Eve at Grandma's house.
JD chatted with his cousin Alexis. She is only 14 months old and didn't have too much to say. She is AWFULLY cute though.
JD got some Bakugans from Aunt Laura. YES -- I know LuLu is sniffing another dog's but in the background. Try to ignore that part of the picture.
All that present opening became quite a FIESTA!
Finally the girls lined up to take pictures . . .
. . . of this very photogenic family.

An Armadillo Christmas

JD and I went to the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar looking for those last few presents we still needed.
You can't go wrong at a bazaar named after a small armored rodent.
JD tried out the hammocks.
We got to see our favorite children's singer. All this was before the screaming, emotional breakdown on the way out -- all because I wouldn't buy him a balloon. JD warned me that I was now on the naughty list. OH WELL!! Just didn't want you all to think Christmas vacation was without any DRAMA!

Christmas Break

It is the first day of Christmas Break and so JD and I are on the move again. We started the morning at his school. We love this nativity that they put up every year.
The children sang for us.
Of course, JD has to put in a few dance moves with his singing.
We went to our favorite pizza place and had some lunch while we watched cartoons on the big screen.
JD tried some of the games including this little version of bowling.
Finally, it was off to the playground. WHEW -- I am tired! Too bad little boys don't get tired as quickly as moms.

Light Show

JD enjoyed some of the season's festivities at our outdoor mega mall. This laser light show was lots of fun.

Playing Egg

The new game JD has invented is playing egg. He covers himself with a blanket and then pretends he is an egg. He prompts me from inside the egg so I know what to say. Usually I have to wonder what is inside the egg. Next I have to try to crack the egg but it is always too tough to crack. I contemplate making cookies out of the egg.
Then the egg shakes and out hatches my little JD. Last week JD was always a pterodactyl when he hatched. This week he has decided that he is a T-rex.
He played egg for nearly and hour one afternoon. Hatching over and over again on the kitchen floor while I cooked dinner.

Texas Snowstorm

The weatherman predicted snow today. The kids (at both my school and JD's) were so excited about the prospect they couldn't stop looking out the window. FINALLY at about lunch time we got a few snow flakes. My class HAD to go outside to investigate.
SEE -- there it is -- a SNOWFLAKE on sleeve of a black hoodie.
Some of my sillier boys tried to make snow angels. I have a great job don't I???

Deck the Halls

Dad and JD hung Christmas lights on our bushes. I know child labor is illegal but JD was happy to help with the task.

Happy Thanksgiving

Uncle Keith and Aunt Nina came to visit us for Thanksgiving.
JD started Uncle Keith's workout as soon as he arrived. Don't hurt yourself Uncle Keith!
We treated them to a gourmet meal at Sams.
JD helped prepare Thanksgiving dinner by working on the stuffing.
Keith and Nina brought presents. YEAH!! They assembled them while we waited for the turkey to cook.
After two rounds of turkey it was time for some football. HOOK'EM HORNS!

Science Day

JD had an educational field trip to my school for science day. Children from nearby elementary schools came by bus to do science experiments with our "big kids." JD watched out my window for the buses to arrive. That was the signal for the fun to begin. We went down and met the bulldog. She and JD are good buddies now.

He painted a picture using invisible ink.

He colored a germ.

He stepped into a giant kid sized bubble.

We did experiments with marbles.

When the second round of buses arrived at school with a new group of kids JD decided he had to do science day AGAIN. Mommy was tired so some of my student graciously volunteered to do the whole thing with him a second time. When science day ended I only had one class left. JD stayed and played Candy Land with some of them after they finished thier work. At the end of the day JD wished EVERY day could be science day.

Walking With Dinosours

Do you recognize T-rex?

JD does! He says T-rex is his favorite dinosaur.

JD and Dad wore their matching shirts to see the Walking With Dinosaurs show.

JD spotted the cotton candy vendors just about as soon as we walked in the door. Yummmm sugar!

The Dinosaurs were AWESOME!! They walked around and made sound and were very lifelike. The usher told us that many of the children in previous shows had been afraid of them. We had a serious talk with JD about them being just pretend. He did fine and wasn't afraid at all.
