Cooking on Fire

JD has decided that it is fun to help dad cook with fire. Today his job was these hamburger patties. YUM!

Fun Day

JD is beginning to get the idea that Saturday is FUN day. When he wakes up on Saturday he asks, "is it a school day?" and then, "is it a church day?" and then jumps up and down at the response that it is Saturday.
For this week's fun day we went to see this dragon movie. The theater is at our favorite outdoor mall area where we can also pet dogs, play on a playground, shop and eat.
For some extra fun we died eggs in preparation for Easter. JD wanted to eat one at 10 last night when we were laying in bed trying to get to sleep. I told him he could have one for breakfast. He is going to be awfully disappointed when he finds out they are just plain old eggs on the inside.

Museum Day

JD and I had a museum day. Going to the dinosaur museum and roaming among the bones is always a favorite.
He's such a big boy now. The first time we came to this museum he thought it was too spooky to go in.
We studied Charles Darwin's trip to the Galapagos islands.
Today the favorite was this exhibit on ants. We watched all the little videos about ants several times before he had enough.
We packed a lunch and picnicked on the lawn in the shadow of the tower. It's never too early to start the brain washing.
Enough science --- it was on to the LBJ library for a history lesson.
"Which President did you say that is mom?"
Ahhhh the oval office. JD looks right at home here. It was a fun, educational day and one of the ladies working at the LBJ Library complimented JD on his "museum manners." WOO HOO!!!

Spring Break Update

JD's artwork is getting a little more recognizable. He drew this picture of Spiderman for me to hang on my wall at school.
This is a picture that was taken at JD's school at Chapel. Once a week all the children go to the chapel and learn a bible story and lesson. Here JD is dressed as the boy Jesus and paying special attention.
Our spring break adventure today was a movie and pizza. This ride is always a favorite.
JD worked really hard at guitar hero. Finally, he decided the guitar was a little too heavy for him.

Rodeo Rumble

We participated in our third Rodeo Rumble today.
Before the race JD posed for a picture with Miss Rodeo Austin.
I was the lucky one who actually got to run with JD. This year we had to move up a category because we are no longer 3 and under.
JD like feeding the animals. Nothing like get a little goat spit on your hands first thing in the morning.
He rode the ponies like a real cowboy.
He tried on a few John Deere tractors for size.
WOW -- JD even did a little bull riding.
I think jumping was his favorite thing.
He kept telling the guy HIGHER and squealed with delight.
Nothing finishes off a day like Lockhart BBQ on butcher paper. No forks here thank you!

Farm Day

The farm came to JD's school today. He was so excited when he got up this morning that he actually asked to go to school instead of dragging his feet like he does on every other school day. He fed some hay to a pony.
The baby pigs were really cute and squealed when you picked them up.
The bunnies were every one's favorite. Poor things about had their guts squeezed out by all the kiddos.
When it was time to go they dropped all the bunnies in the buckets.
Next, the chase was on to try and catch a pig. WATCH OUT -- pigs are FAST!

Green Eggs and Ham

This week was Dr. Seuss's birthday. JD has been on Green Eggs and Ham overload. When he wanted green eggs for breakfast I was more than happy to accommodate him.
George said YUK!!!! But JD ate them all up.

Eatting Store

Thursday afternoon I asked JD what he wanted for dinner. He said pizza. OK -- we can make pizza when we get home. JD said, "NO, I want it from the eatting store by petsmart where theres a lot of stores."
"Where the door goes round and round." OK little boy that seems fairly specific. Since the eatting store by Petsmart is also one of my favorite places, I decided why not.
YUM Pizza! JD now thinks its funny to make faces in all the pictures. I liked it better when he just said cheese. OH WELL -- what's a picture taking mom to do?

Election Day

I love election day. It is like the super bowl and Christmas all rolled together. JD went and helped me vote before school this morning. I let him push the cast ballot button so this was his first official vote. WOO HOO for democracy!
