Birthday Madness

We went to a birthday party for one of JD's classmates at a local park. It is warming up too fast. All the kids loved this seal that sprayed water.

All the boys lined up to go hunt Easter eggs.

This was the coolest birthday cake ever. Ian's mom said she made it herself. WOW!!

Someone brought this crawfish from a crawfish boil. All the kids played with it until I bet the crawfish wished it had been eaten at the previous party.

Indian Pack Meeting

This month's Cub Pack meeting was all about native american culture. This group of venturing scouts came and did demonstrations for the cubs.
Here we learned about native american dress.

Playing the drum was everyone's favorite.

Little boys can't help but like to hit things.

This is Adam (who is in my class at Bowie). He did a cool native american dance with hoops and was happy to take a picture with JD.

Rodeo Days

Spring Break means it is Rodeo time. We went this morning to check things out.
This was the "ride" that George wanted --- too bad we didn't have enough tokens for it.

We are city people so feeding a goat is fun.

JD jumped -- HIGH!!

He also tried to walk on water without much success.

The lemers aren't your typical livestock show animals but they sure were cute.

JD smiled and screeched on this mini roller coaster.

We had one token left as we were leaving so JD tried to win us a fish.

Truce!

Forget Middle East peace. Here's a really impressive truce. Lulu has finally decided not to bark at JD's friend Lincoln. In return Lincoln has decided not to be afraid of Lulu. The two sealed the deal with a dog treat.

It is finally finished. Back during the summer when I was working on t-shirt quilts I started this one. TODAY it is finally finished. I don't want to cut up any more t-shirts for awhile. At least not until summer vacation hits again.

Flying Monsters

JD and I met friends at the Texas History Museum. This is the son of the teacher who works across the hall from me. He is only one month older than JD -- BUT -- his dad is a 6' 10" former college basketball player. The boys had fun.

Our main objective was to see Flying Monsters. All little boys love flying dinosaurs movies.

Spring Break Day 1

Hooray for Spring Break! All the rain we have had the last couple days has really brought out the snails. JD rounded up some HUGE ones and got to work on a "snail race."
Lulu doesn't understand what the big deal is. She thinks she's the only pet a boy needs -- why all the interest in slimy snails?!

Gatti Town bumper cars was our fun for the day. Mom's eat free on Monday --- which is what I remind JD of anytime he wants to go eat pizza on a Saturday.

Super Tuesday

I wore my favorite shoes to school today in honor of Super Tuesday. I ran into a science teacher on my way in this morning and he had completely forgotten about the importance of today's date. FOR SHAME! If you live in a Super Tuesday state --- go vote.

Blue and Gold Banquet

We celebrated the birthday of scouting at JD's Blue and Gold Banquet.
Somehow the word banquet doesn't quite seem appropriate for food you eat while sitting on a little stool surrounded by boys. The boys had fun and the food was yummy.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards. JD earned his tiger badge and got his face painted with the mark of the tiger.

There were LOTS of tigers.

The challenge of the evening was finishing out the night without getting the mark of the tiger all over my dress.

Lost Tooth

JD lost his first tooth. I asked him where it was --- he said, "It's lost." Apparently not only did he lose his tooth -- he LOST his tooth. I guess it is somewhere amongst the bark on the playground. To bad the tooth fairy doesn't pay out unless she has an actual tooth to collect.
