Disney on Ice

Our weekend adventure was to see Disney on Ice.
Of course, any show of this sort has to include cotton candy. This particular bag came with a lovely Mater hat.
We had a front row seat to see the cars.
And, the blue but monkey from the Lion king.
JD loved the Cars and the Lion King. Even The Little Mermaid was ok -- after all it has fish and an evil octopus lady. The whole second half of the show was Tinker Bell -- UGH!!! I don't know who was more bored by Tinker Bell JD or George.

Party Fun

One of JD's friends invited him to a birthday party on Saturday. He had loads of fun.
Here's a scary picture. A whole room full of 4 and 5 year olds. Now you know why everyone has their party at a gym --- who wants this gang in their house??!!
JD loved the roller coaster car.
He jumped with the birthday girl.
I think the ball pit is his favorite.
YUM - VERY VERY blue cupcake. That will turn your poop blue little boy!

More Flowers

I just can't seem to stop taking pictures of the wildflowers. This field is next door to the church. All the rain we got this spring has made them more beautiful than usual.

Day at the Farm

JD has been saying that he wants to live on a farm so we took him to spend a few hours at a genuine farm. He fed some cows. Fortunately, farmer John's cows are more like big dogs.
Sitting on a tractor is fun, but actually DRIVING a tractor. It doesn't get better than that.
OK -- it just got better. JD and dad did some fishing.
JD stopped to smell the flowers.
Success at last!
They were able to catch quite a few fish. Our day at the Wende farm was FABULOUS!!

Happy Easter

We've spent the weekend visiting the the Grandparents.
First, we stopped to smell the flowers at Grandma's house. The flowers all along the way made a beautiful drive.
The Easter Bunny stopped at our house and left DINOSAURS in JD's eggs. The Easter Bunny is SO SMART to know exactly what JD would like!
The Easter Bunny made a second stop at Grandpa's house. Dad and Uncle Andrew lined the boys up at the starting line to go hunt eggs.
WOW -- another egg!

JD got a whole bucket full of surprises.
Some of the eggs were confetti filled cascaronss. JD and his cousin Justin seemed to like cracking them on their own heads instead of going after anyone else.

Flowers and Bugs

For Good Friday JD and I headed out to the Wildflower center. I tried to explain to him that it was kind of like a flower museum and when we got there you weren't allowed to pick anything.
I didn't know how he would like it. I was afraid all we would find would be flowers.
And more flowers. The flowers were pretty but not exciting to little boys. Fortunately we found lots of things little boys DO like.
We climbed up this observation tower -- TWICE!! WOW - that was quite a quad workout.
We also dug in these flower pots filled with gravel to find the bugs.
JD made a new friend at the giant spider.
These giant ants were just a few of the many bug themed exhibits. What could make a little boy more happy than BUGS?!
Only one thing -- a trip to Old McDonald's. It was a very good Friday.

Easter Egg Hunt

Thanks to my FABULOUS student teacher I was able to disappear from my school for a few minutes to help hunt Easter eggs at JD's school.
While the children waited for the Easter bunny to do his work they did the chicken dance.
Next, it was off for the hunt.
JD hunted his eggs at a more leisurely pace than some of the others. You can tell who has older brothers and sisters -- they are used to the competition and really hurried to get their fair share.
Finally it was back to the porch to count their prizes.
